Cakes and Other Desserts
There is always room for dessert, or at least there should be.  It's the finish to a meal and it feels like the dinner table relaxes and slows down.  Sometimes dessert is during a visit to friends or neighbors on the weekend.  Sometimes dessert is a delivery to the in-laws.  Sometimes dessert is just what you need after a hectic day.  Desserts come in all shapes and sizes from simple to grand and a homemade dessert is like a warm hug, just what you needed.

What is Fika?

Some of our non-Swedish guests might wonder what Fika means as they have seen it on the website or in our social media posts,  from time to time. Fika in short can be considered a coffee break but in reality it means much more than that.  The art of fika is really a cultural institution in Sweden and it is something taken quite seriously.  It can be a short coffee break during the work day or an extended visit with friends or family on the weekend and anything in between.  Coffee (or tea or other drinks) are the starting point and then something sweet, fruit or even savory bites can be added in.   It is old tradition very much worth preserving.
